Auto switch to Range weapon even when I equip Melee weapon

I just started to play in BG2:EE. I noticed that my char auto switch to shortbow when I have it equiped in Quick Slot even if I click and want her to equip her melee weapon.

Is this a bug? Its irritating af :(.

How to fix/disable it?

    check your AI settings. You might have "prefer Ranged weapons" turned on or might be using an AI script that does the same.
