Question about backstab.

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
How do I "sneak" or "walk silently" in this game. How do I backstab? There's a "walk silently" skill Stat. How do I do it?

    Select your thief or stalker, then click on the mask/face icon on the bottom toolbar. That lets you hide in shadows and move silently, if you succeed. Then position yourself behind the target and attack.

    You ability to stay in stealth is the average of both you "Hide" and "move silently stats" If you want to succeed regularly, you will want to level both up pretty equally.

    You can also backstab without going into stealth mode if you have items/spells/companions that can make you invisible.
