Able to cast spells with a shield equipped

I created a gnome cleric/illusionist multi with pips in sling and shield, but as the shield was equipped the spells weren't grayed out when I checked my quick spells. Is this just an oversight on my part or is this unintended?

    Although you can't cast spells while wearing standard armor, there's no restriction on casting spells when using a shield.

    No. If a multiclass lets you wear a shield or helmet, then you can cast spells in them. It's only torso armour that prevents arcane casting.

    Mages have a shield spell that creates a magic shield you control with your mind.

    Multiclasses can have the mind shield in addition to a shield in the hand. Dual shields!
