Selecting multiple party members via Touch screen

How is the 'select party members by drawing a green rectangle around them'-feature supposed to work if one is playing on a PC with a touch screen and no mouse? (such as a Microsoft Surface tablet).
Currently, dragging the finger across the map will, sensibly, pan the map. It will also, spuriously, draw some green rectangles intermittently. I don't understand how to draw the rectangles reliably. Am I missing something?

    There is a button on the right toolbar that looks like a hand in a dashed-line rectangle. Click that button and drag a finger to draw a selection rectangle.

    Actually, there isn't. There's a magnifying glass, the AI button and the 'select all' button. Only those three in the lower right corner.

    Oh, didn’t have my touch PC in front me, just iOS.

    Could be a feature request and not a bug. Could go either way, I suppose. Good luck.
