Balor Vorpal Sword Graphic

I was wondering if on high graphic detail the Balors capable of vorpal hits (e.g. the Portal Maze Balor in Watcher's Keep) hold a sword in their hand. In my game (low detail, original IE version of bg2), visually these vorpal Balors appeared to be fighting only with their fists. In D&D rules, Balors can’t vorpal hit with fists (they need their vorpal sword). So to me this seems like either a serious oversight or a case of them running out of time to make a new Balor graphic. Sorry, I don't have a suitable save to check for myself.

    Tahazzar's sprite doesn't have a weapon. His equipped weapon is BALOR.ITM, which is actually labeled as "Skull" and does have a vorpal effect.

    There are many instances where sprites don't match up with the weapon being used. Devas, for instance, carry maces, but their sprites have swords. For this game, it's just too time-intensive to make animations for every weapon class and every creature.
