Alternatives to Prism's Emerald quest? (Spoiler)

I'm back for another playthrough! I figure this is like my umpteenth time starting a new game, but no need to apologeize because I'm amongst like minded people... QUESTION: Is there an alternative to Prism's quest that involves selling the gems to someone that still complete's the quest? Or does the quest remain open until you actually turn them in to Oublek?

    As far as I know there is no way to 'fence' the emeralds and thus legitimately close the quest. Note that if you sell them you get more gp but lose out on +1 rep (which is either good or bad depending on how you're managing your rep.).
