Help with Modding my games in a new windows 10 { PLEASE }

The wonderful husband of mine @Mathsorcerer , spoiled me and replaced my old "Frankenputer" with a new Dell that runs on Windows 10. I am fighting the real battle in trying to get this new beast tamed and behaving correctly. Any advice on this HUGE upgrade from Windows 7 expertise, to Windows 10 would be helpful. I have already set up my profile, made my self admin, unhidden the program files, and the system is still fighting me on installing my mods.

    Just don't mod inside Program Files.

    If the game's installed in Program Files, copy it somewhere else (C:\Games\BGEE or E:\BGEE or whatever), and then apply the mods in that directory.

    As a bonus, the game won't autoupdate this way! :)

    Don't forget to run modmerge, if you're playing BGEE+SOD and got the game from Steam or GoG.

    Thank you! I will give this a try later today. It has been humbling to go from "the mod queen" to a de-leveled "noob" with the new system, and all of the changes that came with windows 10.

    @Thels @Notabarbiegirl Instead of modmerge, use Argent77 DLCMerger
