I just murdered everyone in the Friendly Arm Inn, and NOBODY cared about it.

I was kinda bored and created an evil assassin to have some fun. In the beginning I just run through the areas till I reached Friendly Arm. I went to the temple there and backstabbed the priestess. She didn't die and summoned a dire wolf and ran out of the temple. I went after her, all the guards outside saw it, and for my surprise they remained friendly and came to help me with the dire wolf. I said okay, I might be tired and these things do happen.
Now to the really interesting part:
I went into the Friendly Arm Inn, where I killed one peasant. No one seemed to care, so I went on and murdered everyone one by one. NOBODY turned hostile. I left two people alive. The barkeeper, and Dorn. Both remained friendly. I then stepped to Dorn, and with an elegant move stabbed a nice dagger in his back. He said something about how hurt he was but remained friendly. So I stabbed him a couple of more times and he dropped dead. At the end, I found my way to the only person alive in the place through the dead bodies; the barkeeper. I asked for a nice jar of ale, quit playing and came here to complain.
Current Behavior: Citizens of the Friendly Arm are suspiciously friendly towards a mass murderer assassin. He had a charisma of 18, but come on?!
Expected behavior: I would expect a few slaps on my face, and maybe red circles under the dwellers of the Friendly Arm Inn's feet.
Tomorrow *Yank* (name of my assassin) might demonstrate this incident in a short video unless I'll be told to be cool, since this is absolutely normal. In the latter case, I think I'll grab a beer and re-think my life.

Edit: Except for the bit where he doesn't kill you for hitting him. That bit'll need fixing.
Just saying my piece, however, this overall doesn't make sense and I of course agree with the OP. It requires a bit of extra coding for those who want to go around killing people ( which never worked too well in the old game either ), but you would expect guards to be called, certain NPC's (I.E. - Dorn) to get involved.
I mostly like the advantages to pickpocketing due to not everyone going hostile.
- Someone calling Flaming Fist patrol if you kill innocent.
If I pick up Khalid and Jaheira and let's say attack Jaheira while they are both in my party, Khalid just stands there doing nothing. If I kill Jaheira, Khalid goes like "Oh Jaheira... something like that" and still doesn't turn against me.
When I start killing citizens, sometimes (rarely) some of them turns hostile, but others remain neutral. There are even pals running screaming for help but they still have the blue circles under them and I can still walk up to them and initiate a dialog or buy an ale if it happens to be the barkeeper.
If this meant to be like this, please let me know. I might change my "paladin only" CHARNAME mentality and turn to the dark side.
Hows that....feel better?
