Cheat and XP Trainer

OK, I'm bummed that your companions don't level with you when you leave them and them pick them back up. Being a purist, I want to follow the "canon" path and have Imoen, Jaheira, Khaled, Minsc and his wizard friend with me for the final battle 'cuz that's the assumption when you start BG II. But I also like trying out all of the other companions you can have for flavor.

Does anyone know how to use a cheat or an XP trainer that will work for your companions in the Enhanced Edition? That way I can try out all of the companions and still have a party at the same level as myself for the final battle.

Any help would be appreciated!

The easiest way is just to select the character's (or multiple characters') whose XP you want to change, then use the console and type:

    CLUAConsole:SetCurrentXP(XXXXX)

where the X's is the amount of XP you want to change to.

The way to set up using the console should be in the link TJ_Hooker provided, although it's done almost exactly the same way as in BG2 vanilla, except the Baldur.ini file is in the BGEE directory in My Documents (not in the main BGEE directory). The instructions can be found in Gamefaqs for BG2.

Or you could go more complicated and make BGEE compatible with Shadowkeeper. The instructions are probably also in the above link. If you just want to change XP then Shadowkeeper is overkill, but you can do a lot of other things with Shadowkeeper.
