Support for new Alchemist or other classes

Ok, Enhanced edition wants to bring out new content as they go, so I am wanting an alchemist class.
I do not think it would be that difficult to swap a few scripts and images such as a potion of healing and minor heal using the wizards spell-book as a base for the class. Obviously intelligence would be primary stat
and work on the same armour rules as a cleric.

Not sure if the blackguard was implemented into the class system but it should definitely also be as well

I find the lack of content for customisation disturbing to say the least for an enhanced edition, it was perhaps the one thing I was looking forward to such as new voice sound-sets and at least 10 more portraits. This isnt a rant cause I know that the game has done a lot, but its like a cake with no presentation (icing and candles) to pretty it up.

The Blackguard is a Paladin kit in BG:EE, so it has been implemented as well as used in the NPC Dorn.

They are working on downloadable content, I think I've heard that they have a new NPC coming next year. But their priority at the moment is to quash the bugs people are having at the moment. I think the plan by Overhaul is to see what the players demand and to implement it, rather than make a series of additions that aren't wanted.

I'm not sure what use an Alchemist would be in Baldur's Gate. It sounds like it would be class kit, but of what class I do not know. If it is simply a character that has access to advanced potions, then it sounds like it would be better suited as a item creation Vendor.

I've got my fingers crossed for a Shaman class for the more wild races like Half-Orcs or Halflings who aren't allowed to be Druids. Where it would be like some Druid/Cleric hybrid that has no access to Druid exclusive spells or Cleric exclusive spells but the ones that are shared by both classes. The payoff being that it has the benefits of a Sorcerer in that they can memorise more spells. But they won't be able to do much damage or to resurrect but they would be a cruder, more physical healer, almost like a Cleric/Ranger. In some versions of the D&D Shaman they are like a Druid/Monk hybrid.

The problem with adding classes is that the core ones are pretty much there. There's probably more room to make new kits than whole new classes. What I would be looking for is to expand the class options for Dwarf, Halfing & Half Orcs who can only be Fighter, Cleric & Thief mixes.

well the alchemist class could be used lets say you can not open a chest cause of low xp in lockpick. with the alchemist you could make a potion to buff the skill for example. Or use exploding potions similar to Icewind dale.

Not to mention antidotes when you are running low in the 3rd level in a dungeon would be handy as well as the later levels having frost giant strength potions and heroism potions ect ect.

you say that the core are there, but I still think an alchemist class would be a huge asset considering it would be a real all rounder class.

I don't get the need for even more new NPC's. There is more then enough currently.

True that there are more than enough NPCs in BG1, but in BG2 there are a couple of deficiencies. Namely the lack of an evil aligned thief and a good aligned healer that isn't multiclassed or Anomen.

Im not talking about NPC I am talking more about character class creation and giving more options to the protagonist class than npc's.

In BG1 yes. In BGII, hell no.

If they pull them off as nicely as they did Blackguard, I would like seeing more classes and kits too. I wouldn't say it's a neccessity, but I always welcome more options, especially when it concerns character creation :)
