Rasaad got 1 hitted

Should I revive Rasaad or ditch him? ;D I'm trying to use no reloads or as little as possible

he went down pretty quick, in 1 hit from Greywolf. I'm not convinced on Monks yet :P

Monks don't get tough until later. Rasaad is squishy, and will be for a while.

Probably best to leave him dead on a no reload playthrough. You'll be dragging him to the temple alot.

it is so good to know ahead of time before i play this that Rasaad is squishy.

he will fit perfectly in my party of squishies.

if it were me i would revive him but then again i do not like leaving my party members dead at all unless i have to due to, you know, being chunked and shit.

Keep him until you finish his quest. There is a belt of Hill Giant Strength in the Cloud Peaks

Keep him alive and do not use him until BG.

If you do not do his personal quest, you'll miss a very good item

A cursed belt : 19 Strength but set your intell to 6

    1 hit from Greywolf

He is sort of nasty fella in that way for all upstarts in their early 1st.

In other words, about halfway through BG2.

Get a stack of Raise Dead scrolls with Rasaad's name on 'em. Raise early; raise often. Until he gets 'sploded.

He died on me a few times as well. I'd say, if you're serious about no-reloads, raise him and then ditch him. However, he runs off never to be seen again (I believe), so I don't know whether you'll still be able to do his quest after throwing him out once.

No, he goes to Nashkel (same place where you pick him).

Yeah, Rasaad is pretty anathema to a no-reload, unless you either SK him to a cleric, or you want to use him as a challenge increase, since he is basically worthless for all of BG1 as a monk, and you will have to spend your whole game babysitting him and trying to keep him alive. While you're doing that, you just might get distracted for the single moment it takes to get yourself, Charname, killed. Plus, he will be a parasitic soak on your xp for the whole game, giving basically nothing in return, and he will fill up space in your party that could be taken by an actually useful and important party member.

In Baldur's Gate 2 Jan gets killed by Power Word: Death on a regular basis, when fighting Irenicus, or sometimes gets oneshot by Firkraag or Abazigal. Do I ditch him? Hell no, if you like the character you should keep him. And remember you can use darts and slings with Rasaad, so this might help you or him living through the first 4 levels.

It's been years since I've played BG (been huge nostalgia trip), but IIRC much of the game can be beat with one character focusing on AC, and one or two bow users. There are plenty of open spots for tag-alongs if you like them well enough.

The difference is that in spite of being just as squishy, Jan pulls on his own weight with spells, thieving skills, and goofy personality.

Also Rasaad is supposed to be a melee warrior, instead of a thief or a mage, so it's a little more inexcusable that he dies so easily.

It's as if BG is great training to be a business manager! Manage a party of six, deal with their weaknesses/slack, try to build up their strengths, make them work together nicely...

It does seem that the virtual party members in BG try to kill each other more often than colleagues do in real life. I might be wrong though. I hope not.

Makes you wonder if anybody at overhaul bothered to play through the game with Rasaad even once

Nothing fits better to Rasaad's constant dying than: "FOOL!, Now we'll need another MULE!."

    You have a good point.

I have him at level 6 now and I'm pretty disappointed with him. Monks are just simply terribly ineffective at the low levels, ala the BG1. Watching Rasaad miss 10 times in a row against a Skeleton is just insanely depressing. He has bad AC also and can't hit anyone notable who requires +2 magic items to hit. His damage is also horrible...on the rare occasion you do hit something with Rasaad, theres a good chance it will be like 3 or 4 damage.

At any rate, it's not really Overhauls fault. Alot of the BG2 kits are simply horrendous in the early levels and stand no chance at developing into an effective character. I remember tweeting Trent months ago asking how the BG2 kits would scale in EE but didn't get an answer ^^

    Tis unfortunate
