Final Battle Black Pits help

I cannot kill the Rakshasa. The only thing that hurts him is wand of frost, and there aren't enough charges. My fighters and my priests all have +2 weapons and do nothing. I resorted to turning the difficulty down to easy, still nothing. Help?

    I'm not sure what kind of damage immunity he has exactly, but I could kill him with a magical sling and bullets (used those fire bullets). I guess other ranged weapons would work too.

    I have my archer, with full pips in bow and called shot, pumping him with +2 arrows. Nothing.

    Not to mention a buffed Helmite with a Seeking Sword, a berserker with a plus 2 twohander and full points in two handed sword and +1 thaco braces. Feels like a bug.

    Well I'd say give the sling with the fire bullets a go. I didn't try other ranged weapons, so maybe it's just something about that one which works. Certainly worked for me.

    i think he is immune to slashing and piercing (just a guess here) I had 2 clerics in my group and they were the only ones damaging him (+2 Warhammers).
    Bullets were mentioned also, both the war hammers and bullets deal crushing damage so it makes sense to me.

    Way ahead of you. My fighters have backup +2 hammers for golem fight. Still nothing.

    Ah, forgot that in 2nd edition bullets do crushing damage. Looks like you just need a magical crushing weapon then (I remember trying a non-magical melee crushing weapon without luck). I was playing a solo berserker myself.

    My fighter dual wielding flails+2 ate through him.

    I know this is going to sound crazy. But have you tried non-magical weapons yet? Sometimes casters protect themselves against magical weapons but neglect normal weapons.

    The other thing you could do is try spells like pierce magic and breach to remove any spell protections that may be on the target.

    Thanks for your help guys, but it must be a bug. Nothing is working. The bullets +2 and sunstone bullets are ineffective. And I breach and pierce magic but that doesnt help either.

    So I just patched the game... and guess what? Rakshasa got 3-hit by my berserker! Thanks for the help on this insanely perplexing matter guys.
