That really looks like a problem with the graphic drivers.
Maybe there are special drivers for win8 from nvidia or ati?

In my opinion, exspecially for gamers it is much too early, to use Win8. There are so many problems, that you do not have with Win7 :-).

Did you install the latest graphic card drivers?
I have win8 too and had crash problems before, but after I got the latest drivers it works fine.

Yeah, it's really never a good idea to use a new OS that soon after its release. Having said that, I'm also on Win8 :) And I haven't experienced any issues. It is indeed most likely driver-related.

You actually bought Windows 8? There's your first problem.

That's good to hear, every OS upgrade is a nightmare for old games.

I have a notebook with Intel HD Graphics running Windows 8 and an older PC with a GeForce running Windows 7. Got the game to work on the former, not on the latter. Go figure.

All in all I think Win 8 is an improvement over Windows 7. It's funny how when 7 came out people said you'd be better off with XP instead. I suppose it'll be the same come Windows 9, or whatever they'll be calling the next version.

No, people said that about Vista, not 7, and they were right.

7 > XP, except in very very specific circumstances.

No idea about Win8, I'll try it on my new laptop here in a few months.

can you just configure bgee to backward compatible with window 7?

@Bigity I don't know, man, I recall a lot of dismissive comments about Win7 when it came out. And I know some people who still haven't bothered upgrading from XP.

They will be soon, more and more stuff does not have XP support.

    Really?

I love Windows 7. I think it's great. (That said, I do kind of want to upgrade to Windows 8...)

I imagine at some point next year I'll get a convertible tablet/ultrabook running Win8. I don't feel any pressing need to go through the upgrade process with my existing system. I'm sure I will manage.

Don't versions of Windows work like Star Trek movies? Only every other one is good? =-p
