Dual classing to a fighter lets you put 4 stars in the same weapon at level 1.

Bug :
If you dual from, say, a thief to a fighter, you can affect all your proficiencies points to the same weapon, letting you become a "master" at fighter level 3.
Expected behaviour :
Only 2 proficiencies points can be given when dualing to a fighter.

But that's only if you already have a point in the weapon from thief, right?

No. And, even if that was the case, you shouldn't be able to, since the thief levels are inactive (That means the proficiency points from your thief class are inactive)

The 2 max limit is only being enforced at creation (BG1 however always inforced it as a lvl 1 class restriction), however I do agree the system needs some work. Unlike BG1, EE is allowing you to put additional points into a fighter based dual once you get your abilities back, making it possible to GM, you should not be able to place additional points beyond one, unless you're dualing INTO a fighter or ranger. GM wasn't possible in BG1 (without mods), even abusing the ability to hold levels.

    Current Behavior
While most people don't do this because it isn't feasible with the XP Cap (depending on Lvl/Class) since it doesn't allow you to gain your first class abilities back in most cases, I happened to to change my XP Cap up by 31k because I always felt a little gypped out of my 7th LVL Fighter in my F/M/T build I always use.
Anyways, I decided to play with other builds, namely dual classing, since I had a little more XP to play with.

Which brings me to my point, when dual classing to a Fighter (rather than from, like most people choose), as always Fighters get 4 proficiencies at lvl 1. When starting from a Fighter, you can only put 2 pips in any given weapon/style, however, when dual classing to a Fighter, it allows you to put all 4 pips (High Mastery) in one weapon, which as far as I know, shouldn't be allowed.

Is this a bug or merely an engine limitation/oversight?

    Expected Behavior
1st LVL Fighters should only be allowed to put 2 pips in any given weapon/style, regardless of being dual classed to it.
