keepin' it rollin'...

Anyone still mostly rolling and not advancing too much with the game :) ?

I've rolled like 7 characters so far but did not get to the mines with any of them.

I just have a nasty habit of starting over again and again forever (like many of you)... It's not even that i did not play at all. I had a look at Dorn, at Neera, hunted for monsters here and there, did some quests. It's just that i cannot get my things straight to carry on with the game.... and then i start over rolling.

So far rolled an archer, fighter/cleric, mage/thief, bounty hunter, avenger, swashbuckler (actually 2 of them), fighter/thief.

In general i find multis OP (and hence they bore me quite fast) but pure classes are always lacking something for me... Maybe i'm too much used to BG2 gaming, where you have much more flexibility (as you don't start from scratch). That said, i still fing BG1 (BGEE) very much appealing.

I wonder if i will find a solution for myself to start actually PLAYING quite soon or will i keep rolling till new years eve...

PS. I don't roll one charname very long, always content with rolls 88- 94 which are quite achievable within minutes.

I have never finished a RPG with a character whose stats I liked.

I just can't seem to stay attracted to massively min-maxed characters.

Also all my characters have to have a theme, good stats wont do it has to be a theme.

So yes I feel the pain of restarting and many other players do aswel. (I have never finished a RPG with my first char, it's always the second.....always.)

I've started four runs so far - a cleric-mage, a skald, a cleric, and, I just started a sorcerer tonight, because I've just learned how to find the fabled Ring of Wizardry outside the FAI, and sorcerers in BG rock, using that.

I kind of left my skald behind for the moment, just because he couldn't use the ring.

Three runs here, though the third has gotten pretty far and I think I'll stick with that.

The first run ended when I noticed I had accidentally the wrong proficiencies and hadn't figured out how to make Shadowkeeper work on this version yet. The second went a bit farther but finally finished when I picked up characters too early and did quests and exploration in wrong order, leaving me without the usual headstart I get by running around and doing quests with just me and sometimes Imoen.

I'm in the same boat, actually. I've rolled a number of characters. An archer, a Blackguard, an Inquisitor, a Sorceror, a Illusionist/Thief, a Fighter/Thief, and a Cleric/Thief. I reached Beregost on the Fighter/Thief, but haven't played any of the others. I almost always have this problem in RPGs though. It takes me awhile to settle on a character I like. Tonight I'm thinking I'll roll a Wild Mage, with plans to eventually do a playthrough with Neera, because I think it'll be hilarious.

Luckily for me, I'm in no rush to complete BGEE. I've played through the entire saga before, and I'm half tempted to wait a little while for mods to become compatible (really, NPC Project is the only one I feel like I actually need).

Actually, for once, no. I've made a lot of characters but I haven't really started campaigns with them. I really like my Sorcerer! I have been stuck making portraits and voice sets however. I do love "modding" (yes I know it's not real modding :P) I can do on my own, especially when it fits the characters I make perfectly.

I know the feeling. I have been playing with Divine Remix (Painbearer of Ilmater <3) for so long that I just cannot find a class I have been happy with without it.

I've started two no reloads that ended ignominiously, and I converted a third attempt to a minimal reload game. The ones is in chapter 5, but I'm feeling itchy to try another no-reload.

I'm doing better than usual - started a couple half-orc cleric/thiefs and an elven archer and now I've gone quite a ways with an elven FMT - probably won't be long before the dice call again tho - actually I already have another idea cooking...

good, you made me feel better guys :)

    at least less guilty.

I think eventually i might settle for some sort of thief version. I like my charname to be not only leading, but also opening locks, sneaking around. The rest of the party is supposed to do support.
Being the leader though creates a need to have a charname that can stand there and take it and respond with melee (as a leader you take the first hit if it comes to fight, as you're in the front)

I'd appreciate it if you'd take the time to vote on this subject, if you haven't already.

I'd like to think it makes a good case for producing more race and class DLC, if people are indeed making more than one character and not just investing all their time in a single/very few, run(s).

    @Moomintroll - done

@rest - dammit. Any thief combination is a no-go for me. Tried dualing F3/Tx as well. Nope. Not this time.

I'm giving a blade a go (let's see how weak they're early game). I really have purehearted intention to play this character till the end (let's see if i'll manage...)

Think a lot of people support that idea even if not restarting all the time. I know I do :)

I would restart just for the sake of it if you brought in any new races and classes. Especially kobolds.

Kobolds don't get enough love. I mean, who wouldn't love to play a vicious little trap-laying bastard?

@Chow who said "Kobolds don't get enough love."

    Deekin from NWN.

A good start, but certainly not enough.

I've made more circuits of Candlekeep in the prologue than I've even made treks to Beregost, to be sure.

My current character is a halberd-wielding half-elf skald (my second; the first near identical halberd-wielding half-elf skald was ignobly purged when last night's update hit; his replacement had a better roll).

Last night I made it to and from the Friendly Arm; he and his party (the ol' "snatch up everyone I run into" mix—Imoen, Xzar, Montaron, Khalid, Jaheira) are going to visit a certain ogre tonight.

In all my years of playing BG1 (in classic and BGT varieties) I've only made it to and through the Cloakwood once or thrice, or so it seems. I've only beaten BG1 (classic) once, which coincidentally is equal to the number of times I've actually made it to Baldur's Gate proper. This was several years after I repeatedly beat BG2:SoA with a variety of characters and party configurations.

My goal is to try to beat BG1 again under BG:EE, but at some point this means committing to a character. I've gone through monks, berserkers, and barbarians, so far, oh my!
