Game won't launch after latest patch

I did 1 update today, in the evening about an hour ago. Afterward, I had messed up text for many items in the game, and lots of missing string references.

After I closed the game out, I saw there was another patch for it too. Now that I have installed the other patch and the game won't launch anymore.

So in the last 2 patches, the first one messed up a lot of string references, and the most recent is preventing my game from launching at all. I hit play from the beamdog client and when the window opens, I can an error sound and an error window that comes up and the game won't launch.

Considering the behavior of the patch download, I recommend you try uninstalling and reinstall using the Baldursgate Installer. Not the beamdog one.

By clicking on the lower right button and "Repair Install" afterwards, the launcher will check for errors in your files and redownload them, if necessary. That might be a less bandwith demanding method...

I uninstalled the game, and then re-installed and that seems to have fixed the issue. I actually won't say that it is the game itself's fault. I did have the BGII Tweaks installed which may have interfered with files the game needed. I'll be a little more cautious before updating henceforth.

If you installed the mod before the patch, it's more than a little likely that the patch removed something that the mod needed to work properly, which caused the game to break.

If that's the case, it definitely is a problem (you shouldn't have to reinstall all your mods after every patch), but it's one the developers are already aware of.
