Magical Scimitars?

'Ello!

My ranger (whom is dual wielding scimitars) just picked up Rashad's Talon from Durlag's Tower, and it got me thinking if there is another magical scimitar in EE, to compliment my current one. This of course, excludes Drizzt's Scimitars. Has anyone found an extra enchanted scimitar in their game?

There's a duplicate Rashad's Talon in Cloakwood 2. Check the bottom edge by the sea.

There's one dropped in the first Dorn encounter, a Ninjato +1. Also, I have a Rashads Talon +2 and have yet to go to Durlag's Tower. I got mine in the second cloakwood zone it was just lying on the ground with a cursed ring and a set of leather armor. So you may be able to dual wield Rashad's Talons...

By Cloakwood 2, do you mean the spider area?

As Mechalibur said there is one in near the spider nest. I'm pretty sure a merchant in Ulgoth's Beard sells magical scimitars as well.

*must resist making yet another new character and finally finish a playthrough at least once*

Can you be more specific on the actual location? I returned to the Cloakwood Spider map, but this random loot is no where to be seen T.T

@Jared4242 Unfortunately, since it is just lying on the ground, it may have disappeared, as most items do when left outside of a container.

If this is the case, I say just go ahead and CLUA console one in... If I knew where the Elven Chain Mail was supposed to drop, I'd CLUA it in when I finished that encounter :P

That's what I fear, I'll look in my earlier saves, see if I can find a point where I could pick it up...

    @Elendar It should drop:

Off of dorotea in the ambush where one can recruit Dorn

It is flagged as undroppable, but I changed that via near infinity so I won't need to CLUA it in future games. If you want to CLUA it, its id is CHAN12

Trent Oster indicated on twitter that it is supposed to be flagged to drop.. I already knew the ID for it, just not which encounter/monster drops it...

@Jared4242 SW1H23 is the ID code for that Scimitar.... or at least it was in BG2 ;)

What merchant is this? I am only aware of the Barkeep, and while he does indeed sell scimitars, they aren't enchanted...

@Jared4242 Dang, I must've been mistaken, sorry about that. Seems odd there are no Scimitar +1's to be had in all of the Sword Coast. :P

Hmm, I don't ever cheat in items, so I'll have to make do with a normal Scimitar. Cheers for the replys :D

It isn't really cheating if the game just up and decided to make a magical sword disappear.

As @GoodSteve says, you do have other options. One of the major advantages of the scimitar proficiency is access to three weapon types. Ninjato +1 in the BG sewers, Wakizashi +1 in the Dorn ambush. It sucks if you lost Rashad's, but you don't have to dual wield a non-magical, though I'm guessing that due to RP reasons, you prefer a matched pair.

That Ninjato +1, by the way, is in the East Baldur's Gate sewers, if I remember right you should stumble across it during that quest with the missing people and the Ogre Mage.

@Elendar I have a Stalker who is rocking Varscona and Rashad's Talon, I only get a 2x backstab crit but after the initial attack I usually have enough competence to kill whatever angry enemy comes at me after I leave the shadows. So long as you are thinking of making a dual wielding ranger.

A Stalker huh....? Don't think I've ever played one of those... wonder how well they'd do in a solo run.

Is your a Ranger an elf with black skin? haha :p

@Elendar Solo run? Not sure. I made a stalker for the first time with BG:EE and I am surprised by how much I enjoy it. If you plan on soloing you'll be relying on hit and run tactics a lot (hide in shadows, stab, run out of the enemy LOS, hide in shadows, stab etc.), apparently they get various Haste and Protection spells, but only at lvl 12, so they might make more sense for a BG2 solo run.

Stalker was one of my favorites in BG2, it is highly playable character, lesser backstab and fighter capabilities once you break stealth, only downside is studded leather usage. In BG2 that was not issua, plenty of good leathers to be obtained.

    ... Maybe :P
