Top Party Slot

Does it matter who is in this spot? I noticed when I moved some people around the person in that spot seemed to say something that made it seem they are now leader. does that matter?

The charisma of the party leader is used to calculate NPC reaction and also influences prices in stores, so you want to have the most charismatic leader.

Supposedly it also has an effect on party morale, but I'm not sure.

@Zeckul: They changed it so your Bhaalspawn's charisma influences those things regardless of who your leader is.

Now all it does is "influence morale," but again that is not documented nor mentioned even in the updated manual.

AKA: Charisma is still a dump stat.

Dunno about NPC reactions, but it does indeed influences prices in stores.

I did a bit of testing and found that NPC recation is based on who is talking. Pices in single player are based on who is in the lead slot. aligment playes a role hear has well. in multiplayer prices are based on who is talking.

I have to disagree on that one when I left Candlekeep my dwarf had charisma 6 and my repuation was 8-10 on the line and Xzar would just say, "now way kiddo I won't follow you to the friendly arm F*ck you Montaron and me will have a rave party somewhere whithout you" - or something similar.

But when I moved Imoen to the top - Charisma 16 - "oh you poor baby here take this potion, sure I will follow you to the friendly arm just lets go to those mines later"

Conclusion so it does actually matter. And i tried thrice to talk with my dwarf in case i said something wrong never worked.

Alignment doesn't come into it, except indirectly via your Reputation level

So, yet another lie in the manual.
