The Black Pits Final Fight question (sheer amount of pure speed slashing?)

First and foremost I need to warn you : SPOILERS ABOUT THE FINAL BATTLE OF THE BLACK PITS AHEAD - DO NOT READ IF YOU DID NOT FINISH IT!

Now, I've recorded (as I LP it) the final battle of the Black Pits only to find it incredibly dull and easy - easier than the fire giant in fact. But then I checked around and I figured something : Once Garaq and Thardak are dead, Baeloth is supposed to call for help for a Beholder, and after the Beholder dies for waves of Flesh Golems, is that correct?

Because in my fight, I disposed of Thardak first, Garaq later and started mashing my weapons on top of Baeloth. In a few seconds, his Stoneskin was down and in another couple of seconds, he was dead. I won the Black Pits in a fairly easy way - as I believe that a Beholder would have been serious business if he started hitting me with his rays!

So question is - is this supposed to happen? If you're fast enough, can Baeloth perish before he calls for his comrades? Because this make the fight just silly with fire protections.

Note : proof about my deed is going to come only tomorrow - I got a schedule to follow on youtube after all :P

Sorry for the thread necro, and sorry again if this is well known - I've been avoiding spoilers. @Cheesebelly has a valid complaint.

My arcane team hit Baeloth with 3x Lower Resistance in round one, 3x Malaison in round two, a Breach or two in round three, then locked him down with darts of stunning, sling rocks, and perhaps some trash spells.

Meanwhile, my melee team (including two half clerics) - Dominated Thardak (and sent him after Baeloth) while doing the beatdown on Garaq. Garaq turned FRIENDLY for a few rounds, I have no idea why, and the melee team helped them beat on stunned Baeloth. Eventually Garaq and Thardak uncharmed and were killed.

Poor Baeloth has been stunned and "near death" for way too long, so I stopped fighting and waited. When he unstunned he went straight for his surrender speech.

Itsa bummer to miss out on the beholder, golems, and the rest of the adds. Script triggers need a looksee? Sup with friendly Garaq?

I had the same experience as @Cheesebelly: I killed Thardak, then Garaq, then clobbered Baeloth until he died, and Baeloth didn't summon any additional help. The genie appeared and released us, game over.
