Will Edwin leave after a year? Time is moving very fast.

So I'm still pretty much at the beginning of the game and I've already racked up about 200 hrs of in-game time. I've never had a problem with time going this fast before which is weird. I'm playing an evil party and therefore do not yet have a cleric (waiting to get Viconia) so there are no healing spells to cast on rest, which is probably what is causing it (average sleep time is 5-6 days per resting, sometimes up to 8).

Anyways, Edwin says he will stay with your party for a year. Seeing as I am definitely not going to finish the game before 365 days, will he actually leave?

Are there any other time sensitive things I should be worried about? (I ended up having to rush to finish Edwin's quest so that he wouldn't leave before I got to the stronghold).

Other than NPC quests when they join you, there's no other time limit constraints that I'm aware of. Been 2 years since I last played though and my memory of the full game may not be perfect.

    Edwin will not leave, btw.

I don't know if he will leave, but why not just go and get Viconia?

Quite, I picked her up before entering the FAI, straight after Monty and Xzar

I tested this years ago, he didn't leave by day 800 so you should be ok :-)

That's one thing that would actually be pretty awesome if the Dev had anticipated that someone might actually take more then a year to beat the game and have him just up a leave. (I mean REALLY, I've never even gotten close to that except when I forgot to turn Rest till fully healed (NEVER use this, it's retarded) off after my cousin was playing).

I find rest until healed hilariously terrible, just resting in an inn and paying the 8 GP / night covered the healing for the ~90% of my playthrough that was sans cleric.

Yes Edwin will leave if you do not do his quest in time. I had it happen while wasting time near the Nashkel Mines killing Winter Wolves. He will just walk out saying something that he'll find someone else to help him. I had to use an older save I had to keep him. I hurried straight to the Gnoll Stronghold, and on my way I foolish decided to rest to get my spells back and he walked out again. Had to reload once again, ignore the whiners who were tired and once I arrived at the Stronghold he finally stopped abandoning ship every time I decided to rest.

They are not talking about characters leaving because of not completing their personal quests. They are talking about the NPC actually leaving after a year like he says he is going to.

My bad. I misunderstood the question. I don't think Edwin will leave after a year but I've never been anywhere near that amount of days to test it.

Confirmed that he does not leave. I am at day 240 now.

btw when I got a cleric, the resting suddenly went from 15 days to 8 hours.

I keep Rest until Healed on because I picked up Branwen almost immediately =D

I'm reminded of an IWD run I did once. Played with three mages, a paladin, a ranger, and a thief. Rested for roughly 40 days at a time, I think I wound up taking something like 2000 days to complete the game. It was absurd.

Until I recruited Viconia my rest days were between 2-4 days per resting period.
