Totemic Druid

Hello,
Is it just me or are the spirit animals really weak? My spirit bear was two-hit killed by a lone gibberling....I mean what's the point of having these as a speciality?

Hmm..I tought spirit animals could only be damaged by magical weapons. At least thats how I remember it was in BG2. Maybe it was balanced then.

Being immune to normal weapons would be hella OP in BG1, so yes, they were nerfed.

I understand the need to bring them down to the level of BG 1. Normal weapons immunity would be ridiculous but killed by a lousy gibberling? Come on. And that was the bear which is supposed to be the tank one.

They were nerfed, I asked for it in "feature request" section. They should gotten stronger as you level up, if Overhaul did what I requested for.

Ah I'll level up some and check. It would be swell if they got stronger every level.

Summoned animals being immune to normal weapons at level 1 would be rediculous, but if they are now made so weak as to being killed by a gibberling, I do hope they'll level up properly with CHARNAME... :)

Well I have no numbers to prove it but they seem to get stronger with level-ups. It was a chore in the beginning but i can definitely see the the utility curve going up, so to speak :D

Just tested. When totemic druids reach level 10 their spirit animals get normal weapon immunity.

Nice, It also seems like they level up with you linearly. They seemed stronger at level 3 than 2 for example. This may just be my feeling though.

I spent some time looking at the Spirit Bear in Shadowkeeper, NearInfinity, and Infinity Explorer. There seems to be six different versions of it that get progressively stronger at levels 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, and, uh, 10.. Im thinking maybe the last one is the original one, I'm not sure if its in the game.

Anyways, hp wise they go 16 hp, 32hp, 48hp, 72hp, 96hp, and then 96 for the last one.
Each tier, its str goes up a little, 16, 17, 18, 18/37, and again 18/37.
    Dex goes up for no discernable purpose, 12 13 13 14 14 14.
    It gains more attacks per round too. 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3.
    Its damage goes up as well. d4, d6, d6, d8, d10, d10.
    Thac0 improves too, 17, 16, 14, 12, 10, 10.

AC and resistance to cold, magic cold, and electricity increase all increase as it goes, from 30% to 100%.

The last two get immunity to normal weapons as well. The last one gets some other extra stuff, about half of which I'm not sure of, immunities to stuff and whatnot.

Anyways, you get the idea. They get better.

Thats good at least....now...if they'd do something similar with the shapeshifter (and give it's correct bonus's as well) it might actually become a decent class.
