AI Scripts

Hello,

I set scripts for my party, but they don't seem to work. For example, my mage (Wild Mage) is set to aggressive and has offensive spells memorized and available - but the only thing he does is use his weapon. I did notice that next to the script name it says (Bard) - but that's the case with every Wizard script. I do have AI turned on (they do attack with weapons automatically...)

So how can I get my party AI to work as intended?

scripts in bg/bg2/iwd.. are fascinating stuff, they usually do nothing or randomly stuff, you absolutely don't agree with. Tried the ranged script for like 5 minutes....Kivan was busy the whole friggin' encounter to run away in a tiny cave (!) from some goblins.
Even those uber-script are used to be with precaution...or are working only in real BG2/TOB, as they use some of the methods, you won't find in BG/BGEE, so they fail as well. And another side-effect they are usually overloaded with a lot of if-then-else stuff, so sometimes the NPC can't decide what he should do.

I use only the Fighter(general) script to make sure everybody is at least attacking and use spells and alike manual. Can't stand to see NPCs fire off spells in a mere encounter, which could be solved by just physical force or you want to use a specific spell, which is more common sense than to rely on the cast-AI.

IMO the first scripts to my liking were introduced by some mod in NWN2+...

    just my 0.02$ :P

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know that I shouldn't set my expectations too high heh. Good idea on the general fighter script too.

Where can you find scripts? I'm looking for one that makes spell caster's use spells instead of attacking in melee.

From the character's stats page ('r') click customize then scripts.

Download NearInfinity and you can not only "see" what the in-game character scripts are set up to do .. you can use it to make "script changes" that will make your character behave in combat more in tune with what you want him/her to do. Thats what I do ~!
    Just an idea for you~!

Thats what I do ~! PS: Always - - Always - make a copy of the "in-game" script you want to change - and name it different than the original file name... then alter the "copy" - and save it. Your will be able to choose it from the "Customize" - then choose "Script" - you will see the "new" script name listed.
    Just an idea for you~!
