How to change my character's appearance?

I started a game by half-elf FIGHTER/MAGE. His appearance is that of fighter, so I will not see any robes I whould equip. This is not good. How may I change appearance of my character to MAGE? Good old "GateKeeper" does not work on BG:EE.

Shadowkeeper will work if you use a workaround posted elsewhere on this forum. Failing that you can (also after a workaround) install the "avatar morphing script" component of the BG2 Tweaks mod. Failing that, you can enable debug mode in the baldur.ini file (also described elsewhere on this forum) and use a Ctrl-command to cycle through animations until you get the one you want.

Here's the link to the Debug how-to. http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/8317/how-to-customize-your-game/p1

I imagine this would be the easiest option at this stage.

Customization of avatars was probably my #1 feature I wanted added. I requested this feature a long time ago on the icewind dale and later BG 2 forums, both dev teams said something to the effect that the game could crash due to animation problems. So I had to use dale keeper and shadow keeper to get that feature implemented.

Easiest way with no mods would be to use ctrl 7 and select the avatar u want using the CLUA console cheats, but that would require doing it each time u load a game.
