Really choppy game play (SOLVED)

I downloaded BGEE last night, and ran into some problems. The first is that the video is really choppy, which really isn’t much of a big deal right now. The second problem is that the game itself is unplayable for me, as the frame rate is super low. I can’t even scroll around the game area, and clicking on a spot in the game area gives no reaction for several seconds, and then finally there is an acknowledgement from the character and then several more seconds before it starts to make a move. Note that the mouse seems to work fine and isn’t affected by the frame rate issue.

Here is what I’ve tried: Ran in a window (no change), ran in Win95 compatibility mode (game wouldn’t run), and turned down the options on my video card to try and improve frame rate (no change).

Here are my PC specs. I realize that my computer is way old and out of date, but from the system specs I saw it should have been able to run the game:

Intel Celeron 2.8 ghz CPU
1.5 GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 128 mb (latest drivers, though they are from 2008)
Win XP

Comments?

Oh, I also noticed that there are some grammar errors on text descriptions in game (like the Wizard Slayer class kit), and when I looked at the saved game it said that it was on day 36728, rather then day 1 (or 0).

*Update* - Try a couple more things........uninstalled and reinstalled, both with the beamdog client and without, both with no effect. I ran it in a window and opened Task Manager to take a look, and when I go into the main game screen my CPU usage is at 100% and pretty much stays there, and the game switches back and forth from "Running" to "Not Responding". If I go to a different screen, like inventory or the map, CPU usage drops to 5%. RAM usage seems to be normal, and I have plenty of memory to run the game.

I looked over the system requirements again last night, and from what I've seen my computer should handle this game with no issues.

I really don't understand what is going on. Does anyone have any ideas?

SOLVED!! After a bit of research, I added "OpenGL Version" to the .ini file, and now it runs fine :-)
