Incremental update?

When updates are released for the iPad, will we have to redownload the entire 1.7GB game again every time, because that doesn't sound efficient, or will it just be an incremental update? Also, is there any way to limit the download of this game by hardware version, not software version. As far as I know, iOS 5 isn't causing the issue, the iPad 1 is.

    It'll be an incremental update.

There's an option for developers to restrict apps to require camera hardware, which would lock the iPad 1 out. That might violate a rule, though, if your app doesn't actually use the camera.

Loading game under iOS5 by tricking the pad into thinking it's got iOS6 crashes the app.

In other words, it looks like there's some iOS 6 Code features built into the game that makes this more than just an iPad 1 issue...you can't get the game to load under iOS 5 either assumably.

I'd love to know your source on that.

Your post prompted me to look it up, and I was only semi-right, unfortunately.

iOS 5 introduced delta updates, but only for the OS. iOS 6 had it in betas, but I can't find a source that says it's it in the final release. And unofficial ones seem to conflict:

I got it confused with the Mac App Store, which definitely has them.

Downloading nearly 2GB per update? Am I the only one that finds that ridiculous? And that would mean those with smaller iPads/space would have to delete the app and redownload, losing our save games? Because we all know, Apple requires you to have double the space of the app being downloaded, so if it already is, that would be 2GB, plus double for the update, so like 6GB of reserved storage for updating?

@maxpayne69: There is always the option to remove other less used apps. They can be restored as needed after the update.

I should also point out that this is an exceptionally large app. Updates are usually not a problem.

Baldurs gate is a huge game and being annoyed with file size seems weird to me.

I'd like to know if BGipad allows us to keep our saves when we delete the app. If it keeps exported characters and saves then people who were floating around max capacity could just delete BGEE and reinstall the new version without going through the storage hog upgrade process.

No, all documents within an app are permanently deleted with the app.

It is sad how low standards are for mobile operating systems, yet they are still cash cows.
