Breaking the plot for fun and profit - Obvious Spoilers

So today, I was in Candlekeep, and provoked the Iron Throne members into a fight.

Being as I am, I then ran away like a sissy, up three flights of stairs, the entire Iron Throne hot on my tail.

And then.... Well, I got arrested for murdering the Iron Throne. As one of their members stood swinging their mace at my head. Good going you uppity bald virgins, I'm so impressed with your detective skills.

This is almost as good as the time I went into Razamith's tower, then escaped upstairs as he started to cast a spell; climbed all the way to the top of the tower and killed Razamith and his nymph accomplice, and then, as I went to leave.... Met Razamith and his nymph at the bottom of the tower, and killed them.

Anyone else have bizarre stories where the game threw a wobbler like this?

Another nice follow-up here, I was beating down the demon-summoning cult in Ulgath's Beard, and my entire party chugged enough potions to administer the most righteous beatdown of all time.

And they sure did. They actually killed Tracea Carol before she could talk and summon Aec'Letec, first round of combat, massive crit.

It was actually a bit anticlimatic walking around the circle killing the other six guys who just stood there, but I guess the day is saved?

Closest I can think of is the Mulahey fight. I'm pretty sure I remember him spilling his guts at low health (in terms of giving information, not physically. Hopefully.), but Dorn chunked him with a ridiculously powerful crit and it never happened. I seem to remember that info being very helpful to a new player, so I could have gotten lost in the plot had I not already known how to proceed.

I may be totally wrong, though. It's been a while since I played non-enhanced BG, and in BGEE I took out Mulahey with ease on my first try.

Quirkiness #3 - If you murder Imoen in Candlekeep without letting Gorion go hostile (easy to do), then she'll still come and meet you later, with no reputation loss and 20 XP for the experience.

I guess she must have been a copy-Imoen?

Best one for me was BG2 - an XP exploit at the tanner quest - after you expose him and get 20k exp, before he runs downstairs, I clicked on him, and restarted the dialogue, and re-exposed him, for more exp. Kept it going for ages. Coupled with the free money exploit from the blackmailed nobelwoman, made that runthrough a bit easy

In TOB Watchers Keep I agro'd the demi-lich then made him follow me out the door where I murdered him in good 'ol slayer fashion. Then (because of a bug that made duplicate monsters when you made them area transition) I repeated for lots of money and xp and that cool sword he had. :D

One time I killed Koveras with ranged attacks as he was trying to walk away from me. Next thing I knew I was being told that Koveras had said I killed people and had actually killed them himself after I'd already killed him!

Also, I found that if you kill Unguent (a mage on the top floor of Candlekeep) he comes to talk to the party anyway while they're in prison.

In BG2 I found that I could cast Imprisonment on the Shadowdragon and get the XP, then cast Freedom to release it and repeat the process infinite times. This ended up giving me a lot of essentially free XP.

Today I experienced perhaps the strangest finale I've ever had in BG1. I was fighting Sarevok and his party when every member of my party was killed except my PC. Viconia exploded and everyone else died a normal death. I tried to have my PC run away, but Sarevok hit her a couple of times, which caused her to panic and turn yellow so that I could no longer control her. I thought for sure I was going to lose at that point since my PC was the only one still alive and she had Sarevok hacking at her and most of her life gone, and I could no longer control her. This was a no-reload challenge too, so it would have really sucked to have to go all the way back to the beginning after fighting Sarevok. Anyway, my PC was just swinging wildly at whatever happened to be nearby and that included Sarevok. She actually managed to kill him while doing that. When Sarevok died the game ended and the other members of his party became irrelevant.

I've never had something like that happen before. I think it's probably the strangest victory I've ever had.

Pantalion, well done. A lot of fun can be had with the Nymph Cloak (Charm) and the Wand of Polymorphing (from Voltine), I'm sure.

I'll give it a go on my next run through, lately I've been saving Abela without talking to Razamith first, so he just disappears entirely. But yeah, after he turned hostile, but before he cast his lightning bolt was the way of it.

In BG2 after my very first play through as a Sorcerer, I made a multiplayer game with 5 new characters and imported my level 31 sorcerer into baby sit them.

So when you are working for the shadow thieves and attacking the vampires Bodhi will be down there, and I guess she teleports out and summons other vampires for you to kill or something, I'm a bit hazy on how this works it was about 10 years ago.

Anyhow, my sorcerer time stopped and was walking around dropping dragon fires and comets, and it ended up killing them before this sequence so the vampires I was suppose to kill never got summoned and the quest could never be completed so I had to reload and my last save that wasn't screwed over was a whole chapter back.

I still hold it against Bohdi.
