Having an issue where my character won't attack sometimes

I have noticed more than once now. That I tell my character to attack and he just stays there taking damage, not attacking at all? What is the cause of this?

The game is broken down into little segements of time during combat. If your character is slow to react or just completed a task (attack w/ a weapon, cast a spell) then a bit of time will pass before he/she can take another action.

    Here's a tip for combat.

    - Hit space bar (game now paused).
    - Hit the number 1 key. (you've just slected the top/first character in your party, top portrait on the right side of the interface)
    - Since this is likely (hopefully) a fighter of some sort, make sure a mele wepon is thier active weapon, then click on an enemy.
    - Hit the number 2 key. (now your giving directives to the next character in your party)
    - Choose a weapon/spell and a target for the attack or spell
    - and so on
    - Hit space bar a second time.

The game will unpause and you will see all your charaters execute the commands you gave them.

When your characters are at low experience levels, action will unfold more slowly.

This is a diffrent kind of game than a RTS.

Yeah, I do that. And everyone attacks but my main character. He will just stand there taking damage. So what i do is move him away and the enemies leave him alone. This has happened three times now.

    sallright, sallright.

Every game has a interface and learning curve.

Now get back to "Butt-kicking for goodness!"

Worth mentioning that the OP could be experiencing a really debilitating bug that's currently present in some people's games. Characters will sometimes require two clicks before they respond to a moving action, this is particularly frustrating when in combat and you're trying to move certain characters around.
