Multiplayer for Dummies Question (help spread the joy of BG:EE)

I downloaded the iPad version of BG:EE so that I could start a game with my son. I am too out of PC gaming (gaming generally really) and he is too young to know how to do this. I have seen references to Hamachi for setting up multi-player games so I set up a network on my computer. Other than that, I have a laptop that I am running this on and my son will be on the iPad.

Can someone help with a "dummies" guide to setting up multiplayer with the PC hosting and the iPad as the second party?

Any help spreading the gospel of BG would be much appreciated!

(Let me also say that I am technology ignorant enough to not know anything about ports or other aspects tangentally mentioned on a few multiplayer threads I reviewed prior to posting this...thus the "dummies" reference.)
