[Bug] No wagon wheel at the edge of the map (v1.0.2010)

edited November 2013 in Fixed
Sometimes when I load/quick load a save I do not get the wagon wheel at the edge of the map, but when I save and reload again it comes back. This has only happened since the newest patch v1.0.2010.

Observed Behavior: Unable to trigger world map transitions at the bottom of maps (found in Beregost, but also happened in the only other map I visited: Baldur's Gate.
Went to BG and visited witch to the North; tried to go south to work that quest

Expected Behavior: Map transitions (the destination wheel) work normally

I'm going to try to start a game that didn't initiate with older version to see if it has something to do with continuing a game after updating.

I started a new game and the southerly transitions work at least for the area east of Candlekeep. The original game (started before update 3 and continued) still cannot transition to the south. Worst case, I lost the old game.

It is apparently zoom dependent. If I scroll to the very edge under max size/min zoom, I won't get the transition. Zooming in a bit and panning seems to alleviate the problem, but this was not an issue prior to update 3.

I can confirm this, maximally zoomed out, you cannot reach the southern travel regions.
    Registering that.

It's been happening to me as well, but I think it is only happening when I'm zoomed out as far as I can go. Zooming back in a little fixes the issue (for me at least).

Reloading the game may also be resetting your zoom level, which is why you think that's a fix. I could be off, just my 2c :)

You are right, it is caused by the zoom. The wagon wheel is gone for the 3 most zoomed out views. If i remember correctly the starting zoom level is a 1-1 pixel ratio, so anything more zoomed out then than that is having problems now.

    Yep; some more insight:

It seems that the interactive screen area is set and does not enlarge when you zoom out. The interactive screen area is fixed to the top and left of the screen. When you zoom out, the interactive area remains the same size leaving the far right and bottom portions outside.

It also keeps you from selecting people and doors near edges. Weird.

Current behaviour: When zoomed out, the cartwheel icon doesn't appear when hovering the mouse over the edge of an area, making it not possible to leave the area. Zooming in for a bit seems to make the icon re-appear.

Expected behaviour: When zoomed out it should be possible to click on the edge of an area to leave.

[edit: also, this bug doesn't seem to happen in the "you have been waylaid"-areas, though I'm not sure of this]

I'm new to these forums, and haven't really spent much time reading all the bug posts, so forgive me if this issue already have been addressed.

    Bug:

When zooming out to max distance, I can no longer transit between areas. It's like the triggers dissappear. The only way I can counter this is to zoom back in to closest distance. This seem to make the triggers magically re-appear.

i have just traveled south out of Bergost, made it to the bottom of the map where the straight path goes but i can not travel to the next southern map. If i walk out west, i can travel to the next part of the forest to the west. Is this a bug or is it something to do with picking Kagian up?

I am having this same issue, but do not find having to zoom in an acceptable solution. This bug also affects targeting monsters.

Observed Behaviour: The "Wagon Wheel" does not show up when at full zoom causing one not to be able to travel to another map.

Preferred Behaviour: The "Wagon Wheel" appears in place of your hand cursor so you can travel.

Temporary Work-around: If you zoom in about 3 times, the "wheel" will appear.

I have this happen a lot, my solution is to quick save then quit to menu then load the quick save again. So far it's worked every time. A nuisance for sure tho, so hopefully they can fix it.

Oops it appears zooming all the way in as suggested earlier does fix it as well. Thanks!

Maybe this issue has been reported already but I just noticed that in Baregoat I couldn't travel by moving to the right or the bottom edge of the map, only by moving to the top or the left edge.

    Haha, Baregost i mean :D
Reloading the save from within the game didn't help btw, but going all the way back to the main menu and loading the save from there "solved" the problem.

There have been several times that I cannot travel off of a map as I should be able to. Quick save then Quick load has fixed it each time, but still very annoying. This appears to possibly be a bug of some sort. Is anyone else seeing this?
