Kensai AC bonus

Is this supposed to be a Shield bonus? It only states that it is "a" bonus and doesn't specify a shield bonus. I tried to see if it would stack with the Shield spell and it does not, making it kind of worthless since the only things a kensai can use to defend himself is Mage armor or Shield. This was a Dual-classed Kensai/Mage BTW.

    It stacks for me with both the shield spell and the armor spell. Also, I think you may be thinking of 3rd edition with regards to having specific types of AC such as shield. In BG there's really only 2 types: first there are things that set your base AC. This includes any armor you wear on your chest, the armor spells, the shield spell, low base AC of a monk, etc. These do not stack; whichever source of base AC is the lowest is the one you benefit from. Besides that all other sources of AC (ie anything that says "+ x to AC") stack as far as I know. So it isn't really important what 'type' of AC bonus the kensai's is.

    Ya you're right. I was mixing 3rd ed and Ad&d. It's been so long since i've played Ad&d that It's hard to differentiate anymore.
