enemies fighting petrified statues

Observed behaviour: I picked a fight with the lich behind that wall in the pub. Had Viconia disrupt his spellcasting and he failed to protect from evil and wound up in a battle with his pit fiend. He managed to petrify his fiend and then proceeded to waste a lot of his spellcasting on the fiend (and a summoned efreet of his also fought the statue) after the fact instead of turning to fight me.
Expected behaviour: The AI should be smarter than this and not waste time on statues. Maybe if the monster is dumb/unintelligent (< int 3, golem, etc) an exception could be made.

If it were me, I would change parts of the petrification opcode:
- only physical damage would affect the petrified statue
- the statue wouldn't be broken apart by one hit, and would have hitpoints dependant on the size of the creature (this is debateable)
