I just noticed this... makes me wonder what a 19+ strength character with 2 pips in sling proficiency is capable of. Dorn with a sling, hmm.
BG 1 and BG 2 EE's should be consistent though, and if this is going to stay as it is, then what about the Sling of Seeking +2 (it adds the strength bonus to damage, as the only sling in BG 2).
OK...after digging around in the 2nd Edition players handbook, every ranged weapon except X-Bows should gain your bonus str. The only minor exception are bows. Short/Long bows can only benefit up to plain 18 str (+2 max), while composite bows can benefit from fighter bonus strength and beyond.
If you can stand the annoyance of how fast you burn through a stack, Darts are literally the best weapon in the game period for any class that can use them.
@Suiboon I've experimented with high-Str sling-wielders extensively. In general, it's not worth it. Two reasons: (a) meta-game -- very few magical slings in the game, and the only really good one is very difficult to access until late game; (b) in BG:EE, sling THAC0 is fully Dex-dependent, Str affects only damage.
