Suddenly NO sound!

Hi,
I downloaded, installed and run from the standalone launcher. The game has worked fine from the start with no technical problems at all. Suddenly today, after launching the game from the launcher there is no sound at all. No music on the intial menu screen or indeed anything if I load a game.

Did a search and installed the OpenAL which hasn't done anything. Can I have switched something off?
