BG:EE BUG - How I met your Neera
Hi,
Current behavior: My first contact with Neera happened in a way I was not excepting. I think the developers assumed that you will walk around in Beregost with your party. If you do it another way the scripted meeting goes wrong. I killed the spiders for the dwarf in Beregost, and I used a potion of speed to make the kills easier. Then I thought I could use the remaining time (from the potion effect) to quickly discover the town, so I ordered my fighter to run through the town. The other characters remained still. But the fighter met Neera, and everything went wrong. After her naive and unavoidable speech the mages and their followers appeared - but not before Neera or my fighter: they appeared before my CHARNAME, who was at the other corner of the town. Just a moment later Neera said thanks to me and she leaved - i think she just couldn't detect the mage - leaving me behind with the already hostile group... I couldn't speak to Neera, and I couldn't avoid the fight with the strangers, who attacked my CHARNAME at the other side of the town...
Expected behavior: First, I expect to being able to cancel the meeting with the mages or with Neera. If you are back from a quest and have no spells available or you are wounded - this is not a wise way to introduce a new NPC - you just die in the unintended fight. (If you say "No" at the beginning to Neera, the mage still comes closer, despite of your choice.) Second, I think this is not the right way to set the parameters for this meeting too. It should be Neera, or the character who is speaking to Neera, who is attacked by the mage and his followers.
Thanks.
(I didn't liked the first contact with Dorn either. I liked the monk's: he is as the other NPCs, if you don't go to them they will not bother you either.)

I'll have to say I don't think we can call the timing and convenience a bug, but the red wizards should be focusing their attention on where Neera is. I was able to reproduce it, and even better - the wizards spawned where they were not visible by my party, or by Neera, so Neera finished her dialog and joined the party before the battle took place.
We'll get this written up and looked at.
