Boots of Speed - Haste?

I remember reading somewhere that boots of speed were only supposed to increase movement speed, and not APR. I find that they are increasing my APR by x2. Is this a bug, or intentional? I know several unofficial patches to the original changed this, but perhaps Overhaul left it as is because of WotC restrictions?

    They used to do that in original Baldur's Gate, but in the second game, and by extension EE (though not TuTu if I remember correctly), they Haste you instead.

    Which always made very little sense to me: how can shoes make your hands faster?

    Its a bit of a strange one becasue the boots of speed just gave move speed on the bg1 engine, but they gave haste on the bg2 engine, so its hard to tell which is intended. I suspect given their cost that they should only give improved movement speed however.

    Exactly. I feel like I'm cheesing it if I use them...

    I noticed that also. This really shouldn't happen and as far as I'm concerned, it's a bug and should be fixed.

    Haha I guess it will help her avoid damage... I could give them to Kivan - now that would be super OP.

    Boots of speed + Kivan (or archer) = game broken

    I had Kivan solo pretty much the entire mines level except the boss battle at the end, and that's only cus of the Battle horrors

    @SpacemanSpiff - Or go one better and do what I've done, and given them to my Elven archer with 20 dexterity, the Composite Longbow +1 and the Bracers of Archery.

    When not doing this, I like to cut off mages by magic missiling them in the middle of their first spell. When doing this, they're dead before even that quick incantation is finished.

    Does haste effect non-warrior classes differently? When playing the Black Pits, I was able to equip every member of my party with the Boots of Speed, but only the Warrior classes gained the attack bonus. Is this intentional?

    On my Swashbuckler it still shows 2 attacks per round with 2 weapons and 1 with 1 weapon but it also doesn't show the extra half attack from weapon proficiency. I'm not sure if the display or the attacks are broken but charname does attack pretty fast.

    @Darkcloud
    I'm fairly certain Swashbucklers don't get half an attack from specialization. Think it's warrior exclusive.

    Turn on To Hit rolls in the feedback options and you'll see how often you are attacking. For melee weapons you always get 4 or 5 attack animations in a round (I guess that's a fighters normal maximum of 3 main hand, +1 offhand, +1 for haste). If you only have 2 attacks only two of those animated attacks are "real" attacks.

    It shows no off hand attacks at all and when i cast haste the status screen shows 3 attacks/round and there are 4 main hand attacks before one off hand attack....
