Regarding Neera, Belts, Love and Gender (maybe a minor spoiler?)

So I'm wondering how the gender requirement on Neera's romance is tested, and how her dialogue is structured.

Would a female main character whose gender has been switched to male be able to initiate a romance with Neera?

How about a male who'd been switched to female?

Also, if the gender of the main character is female during the conversation(s), does Neera ever incorrectly refer to the main character as male (or, weirder still, vice versa)?

Does anyone know enough about how this is set up to answer these questions?

The way BG2 did this regarding romances was to check the "real" gender, so you couldn't trick the game with a M/F girdle into same-sex relationships. Most likely BG EE (which uses BG2 engine) does the same.
About the banters I have no idea but I assume Neera uses appropriate-gender dialogues without checking for girdle usage.

@Koson Actually I tested this last night on the advice of another user on here. Turns out, if you're over the timer for the first conversation, putting on the girdle and resting gets you the first romantic discussion when you wake up. Taking the belt off doesn't even break it, the next conversation will just delay until your gender swaps back to male again.

Better still, she never once says anything about you being male in the whole exchange.

It's almost like they intended for something like this. Then again, sex change is also a wild magic effect...

She does refer to you as male if you say the wrong things.

Unless you use @Kaeloree's dialogue expansion mod, which removes gender restrictions as well.

@Jalily Oh, good to know. I missed that option, I think she liked everything I had to say.

Of course this is all more or less moot now that there's a solid mod that does away with all of that and expands the romance further. (Name and thread escape me at the moment, but I remember you being in that thread as well anyway)

Edit: Ah, yes that was it.
