Ankheg Armour *not sure if bug*

So I have ankheg heads in my inventory. When I got to the smith in Beregost, he does not offer to make the armour for me.

I know you are supposed to refuse to sell him the heads. I refuse him twice and he still won't make it for me.

Is this a bug, or am I not doing it right?

    do you have low reputaion or CHA making for a negitive NPC reaction?

    You must deny his request to purchase the heads, then he makes you the offer for armor IIRC.
    I think you know you are on the right track when your approach what-his-tooh and there are
    4 dialog options. Choose the one which is along the lines of "I have ankheg stuck in my teeth? I'm keep that for later."

    oh maybe it's my low reputation. I'm playing an evil party. I usually get imoen to talk to him cause she has the most charisma.

    I get 4 dialog options. One is shop, one is leave, one is accept offer to sell, the other is "double your offer or nothing". Then he says he can't, then I refuse again. Nothing about stuck in the teeth.

    Usually he can only make one set of armor for you, so after that he won't offer to make any more.

    You're missing the first dialogue option, "I'm not interested in selling it just now, though it would be to you if I do." Odd, there are no reaction checks for it. The only condition besides holding a shell is that you haven't made a set of armor yet.

    huh. Weird.

    After I tell him to double the offer, he then says "Woah. Iron is not so scarce as to make me that desperate. 500 Gold or nothing."

    I'm not getting the line "I'm not interested in selling it just now, though it would be to you if I do."

    No, when you first talk to him with the ankheg shell in your inventory, refusing to sell it should be your first choice (out of 5). Haggling is not the same as refusing to sell.

    Ya I only have 4 choices. Soooo.... bug?

    There are only four choices. The first one leads to him offering to make a set of armour for you.

    Okay so I got it to work. I'm not sure what happened, but I left, went to the Jovial Juggler, slept, then went back and the choice was there. It was definitely a bug.
