Multiple journal problems

There are still several issues with the journal/quest pages. Completed quests don't move to the "completed" page, or show up on both. The journal is almost totally unusable. Journal entries show in a (seemingly at least) random order, as opposed to ordered by date. It also has a hair-trigger when trying to scroll it. It only scrolls when L-click-held and moving the mouse, and unless ridiculously careful switches over to edit mode. Also some entries don't even appear. I will get a line in my chat window "Journal updated- [entry title]" but no such entry can be found in any chapter available.

Yep. I have found the same issues with journal scrolling and too easily switching to edit mode.

I've had issues with completed quests remaining in the Journal, the one that pops to mind is Mirianne or whoever, the woman in Bergost you bring the letter to after killing the ogrillions due south. I also gained the Melicamp journal entry from talking to someone on the same map you find Melicamp, after I had finished the quest. Not a bug so much as annoying, but still.

    I agree!!

The journal is painful to use. This isn't my first time through the game, and I generally remember where to go when getting quests. But were I a new player relying on the journal, I'd be very frustrated.

Everything is jumbled together, entries are missing, it falls into edit mode way too easily..

    Example: *spoiler*

I'm in TOTSC right now, and Mendas hired me to get the sea charts from the Merchant League's Counting House in the city. It starts the quest, The Reclusive Scholar, and updates the journal - supposedly. I get to Baldur's Gate, finally find the Counting House, go in and deal with everything.. and no charts. Also no journal entry. It's a LOT of walking around. But I start over at Mendas' house, and this time the journal entry appears, etc..

I playing the latest MAc OS X version and I have all the journal problems as described above, too. It's really difficult for a BG beginner to follow the story. Sometimes letters from NPC aren't copy to the journal as well. I would be very grateful if this bug will be fixed. But please don't forget the Mac OS X version ....

I talked to Parda just when I arrived at Candlekeep in ch 6. The journal entry from that conversation appeared in the dialogue window (as well as in the journal).

Just my personal experience with the Journal "Bug".

I am playing Baldur's Gate I Enhanced Edition and like to get my party situated before I embark on any quests.

I acquire Edwin and Dorn before I actually start adventuring and before any of my characters reach lvl 2, which means technically I'm already in Chapter 3 according to the game by the time I acquire both of them. Now when I go back to Beregost, Friendly Arm Inn and other Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 towns to retrieve quests, they are not showing up in my journal however in my chat Journal they will show has being accepted/activated.

Do Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 quests have to be finished before moving on to a new Chapter or is this just part of the "Bugged" Journal?

Thanks any help or answer will be appreciated!
