Archer and thief for evil party?

Hi guys,

Ok I've arrived at a point where I'd like to restart the game, since I'm not really feeling it with my current party and a lot of bugs have been preventing me from finishing certain quests. I'm going to start a rather malicious playthrough by later today or tomorrow.

My previous Charname was a beast archer - loved it, but alas, I'll see what I can come up with this time.

I still would like to have a decent archer in my party though. Problem is, which companion to take? I guess Kivan will leave the party once he sees my true colours. Also, since I'll not be taking Imoen, which thief will do? Montaron? Still have to discover a lot of Companions.

And while were at it: Can I pick up Viconia straight at the beginning of the game, or will have to finish the Nashkel mines first?

Tell me your evil party combinations :)

Thanks!

    Archer and Thief?

Montaron. He's a badass little guy.

    You can get Vicky immediately.

    Montaron makes a good slinger.

Make sure you collect dorn and Edwin as well.

Alternatively go collect sharteel and dual her into a thief.

All these npcs can be collected easily enough.

None are true archers though, if you want pure ranged make CHARNAME into one.

    Enjoy fellow beggar killer!

You can pick up Viconia whenever.. Montaron is a decent choice for thief, or you could dual-class Shar-teel...

Montaron is probably best for sling usage. Since Halflings get a bonus I think. Safana is a Chaotic Neutral substitute for Imoen if you need another choice. But she doesnt come knowing bows. I hear Shar-Teel dual classes to thief pretty effectively so that might be a good option.

Viconia can be picked up before the mines. I did so on my current playthrough.

Shar-Teel for an archer. Pretty good stats and a STR of 18 to wield the composite longbow +1 if you so desire.

You can pick up Viconia straight away. Montaron is a great ranged character, although he's proficient with slings, not with bows. If that doesn't bother you, take him.

Montaron is a great archer and if you focus him on ranged combat he can be the party's sole thief aswell, dump all his skill points into find trap/open lock. With his decently high dexterity and halfling bonus with slings his attacks will hit quite often and now (or maybe it always did but I never noticed) characters add their strength bonus to damage with slings. Monty has a good strength score for a halfling so not only will you hit often but you'll dish out pretty decent damage too. Give him the Sling +2 with some +2 sling bullets and watch him mow people down.

Shar-Teel could become a decent archer aswell, she can use a composite longbow thanks to her strength, and she has good dexterity aswell. Her downside is she doesn't come with any proficiencies in ranged weapons so she wont really shine until at least level 3 but more like level 6.

    Absolutely, Montaron!

I want to mention Eldoth, if only for his create poison arrow ability. It creates 5 poison arrows per day that only he can use. However, he also needs the gauntlets of dexterity.

Still, the best archer in the game is Coran. He's chaotic good and might feel butthurt in your evil party, but he sure is effective at plinking enemy mages with dispelling arrows.

I have all three in my current 'band of rogues' party.
