Are you asking if you can add more than yourself to your party or if you can add the new characters that are with the enhanced edition to the party?
In any case all characters you meet (the old and new playable ones) can, eventually, be added to the party I believe.
If you're talking about Dorn in the Friendly Arm Inn not joining with your party, I expect an event later in the game to allow him to join up. You probably aren't far enough yet. I know I'm not.
