Avenger druid starting stats

So, I am rolling an Avenger druid for my laptop game and currently have the rolls of

STR 14
DX 18
Con 16
Int 8
Wisdom 18
Char 15

A nice roll of 89 and was curious as to if I should dump 2 points from Intel into Str, I am guessing not since I wont be fighting much melee but wanted to confirm (that and I know that the Mind Flayers in 2 drop intel down to kill you).

Thanks in advance!

I believe when you shapeshift you get the physical (str dex con) of the creature you shapeshift into, so you don't really need str

I picked up 16 str on my avenger because with the +1 tome, you end up at 17 thus giving you the choice of dual classing to fighter down the line in bg2.

If you're planning to dual to fighter, you need 16 strength (plus the tome). If you're not planning to dual to fighter, you can drop your strength to 12 and not see a difference. That would bring you to 10 Intelligence, and if you used the tome on yourself, you'd reach the nice 11 Int mark that you want for the Mind Flayers.

Or you could just not go up close with charname against Mind Flayers.

Aside from carry weight, there's no appreciable difference between 10-14 str. You forms replace your physical stats anyway (and the sword spider form gets WAAAY more attacks in melee then you ever will...and apparently hits as if it was +5...just beat Kangaxx to death in sword spider form ( always thought it was only +2, so I stopped using it, read a post on another site saying it was +5 and decided to check it out and it's true)...so it remains viable through out the entire series...10 attacks per round under IH...as a single class druid...that's just sick)

In light of all that, the Avenger is without doubt the best single class druid, and even gives the F/D a runs for it's money.

Wow, I had no idea the sword spider counted as +5 for its attacks. I think Avenger just jumped up a couple spots on my favorite class list.

I would set the Con to 15 as you'll get 16 once you use the tome and anything higher than 16 brings no benefit to a non-fighter class/kit.

Or you could, you know ... give it to someone other than the PC? Besides, that would leave him with one more point, so he would be at a 15 Strength which is barely any better than 14 Strength in any shape or form.

OP that's a good roll how you have it allocated, I have an Avenger roll identical to that and it's working out quite nicely.
