I'm thinking about dual wielding axes... Will I run into any trouble in the second game if I just used axes the whole game?

Including some nice unique magical throwing axes for ranged axeness.
EDIT:
I forgot, there is one axe in tob which is a monster once you upgrade it.
Another good thing about axes in BG2. The two "best" ones that you would dual wield throughout the game (before ToB) you can get pretty quickly. This means you'll get a lot of quality time with them compared to other, stronger weapons.
Throwing axes are a pain, though, if you dual wield, since you currently have to unequip your offhand axe before you can equip a thrower to one of your main weapon slots. (I seem to recall this being the case, anyway.)
When I went with my all shorty party in BG2 I let Korgan have the two "best" early access for dual-wielding fun, while my dwarf went with another early access axe that was a returning thrower and did ludicrous damage when thrown. (I wonder how that one will come out in BG:EE?)
In SoA, you can get a bunch of +3 axes early. And +3 is enough for most of everything. There's also one for undead slaying (although IIRC you need an unofficial fix to make it effective vs liches and whatnot, and also - you must be of good alignment).
ToB adds a couple more, one you can upgrade to +5 super duper awesome, but that comes a bit too late IMO.
I'm not too worried about the "boring" stats on the axes. As long as I'm not gonna run into "Weapon Ineffective" every time I fight a tougher monster. So in BG 2 that won't be an issue?
