F/M vs F/M/T

Does F/M/T lose out to a F/M with the ToB 8 million xp cap? From looking at it the F/M/T wouldn't get to level 9 spells, and that seems like it would kind of weaken the class.

I guess my question is if I enjoy F/M/T and was looking at a class to play through the entire series (not a solo play) would I be better in the long run with a F/M, F/T or M/T? Or does F/M/T hold up in ToB?

Thanks.

The main bonus of being a thief is the surprisingly mundane : Ability to disarm traps and open locks without wasting spell slots

F/M/T holds up. It gets the most number of HLAs including Use Any Item. They're all powerful (particularly F/M and F/M/T) so it's more down to whatever playstyle you prefer.

If I'm looking at the progression charts right, F/M/T doesn't get level 9 spells, right? And wouldn't that make a lot of the mage HLAs useless since they take level 9 slots?

    Thanks.

Yes, although you'd have a whole bunch of other options when it comes to HLAs. Let's just say that if you wanna focus your HLA on one class, maybe playing a triple-class character isn't the best way to go about it.
