Game Freezing when Leveling up Char

UGH! this bug for me just doesnt seem to go away and I am just about done messing with it all together and go back to BGT.
I thought i would give it one last shot here before doing that though.
Whenever I am in the char screen leveling up a char and I am clicking the buttons to assign points to skills the game will start to lag is the best way to describe it. Like the game doesnt acknowledge my clicks for a second or two then it will finally just stop responding all together and freeze up to where I have to ctrl-alt-del out and end it.
Any ideas ? I have the most recent video drivers for my card and sound drivers.
Im either going to fix this or in the dust bin it goes and I will write off the $20
