[Request]I'm jealous of Edwin's necklace, perhaps it could be changed somehow?

That bastard. Always kept me from making a dedicated arcanist without being a sorcerer or, at least, a wild mage. I wonder if there's a better way to handle Edwin's position as a Red Wizard without making him a wizard that can easily compete with a experienced and cheesy sorcerer. Perhaps incurring a second spell school limitation to his spellbook?

No touching Edwina! She's perfectly lovely just the way she is. And I don't the necklace tbh, and it's what we all know of him anyway.

Note to self: Why have you never given Edwin the girdle in BG1?

You don't... mind the necklace? I suppose most don't, even I can tell this discussion of mine is nitpicky, despite my hatred for Edwin's cheatlace. Mind you, I still maintain that a good way to make pure wizards more interesting is not to have this one follower that absolutely outclasses any Charname and, maybe, most every spellcaster too. Edwin almost has the raw power of a Sorcerer with the versatility of a Wizard.

And, obviously, after the first time you wore the Girdle of Plastic Surgery without identifying it, no doubt saying to yourself 'what's the worst that could happen', you developed a trauma that forever makes you snap out of it when reaching the Friendly Arm Inn, only returning to reality after the aforementioned Girdle is somehow destroyed in ways that no sane mind has ever found in the game.

    Whew, I'm overly verbose today.

I don't know if anyone could take Edwin's amulet from him. If Trent Oster tried, Edwin would just slap his hand away and tell him to "Keep your paws off this amulet! It is a memento of Thay and you shall not touch it!"

Then I hereby grant him the title Shadowkeeper of the Gates. That should be enough.

I like that lots of possible party members (especially in BG2) abuse the rules, it adds to the flavour and isn't game breaking.

plus edwin is pretty squishy and derpy, 9 wisdom so his lore is doo-doo and his dexterity is horendous enemies are hitting this clown as if he is the broad side of a barn, plus he cant memorize identify so i guess he's kinda fair, plus he's evil and that makes it so you cant have high rep, so that could be another down side, but i think his necklace should at least look special not just look like some lame ass 15 gold piece necklace

''but i think his necklace should at least look special not just look like some lame ass 15 gold piece necklace''

Ditto I was just gonna write that. I'd like them to change the design of the necklace and make it look cool. Agree with everything else you said.

Don't look only to the numbers and character bonus and advantages, a character is more than statistics.

Why Edwin is balanced and shoud not be changed:

1° - Edwin is the only pure mage joinable on the game.
2° - He's Evil what will make any non evil party that take him to absent 19+ reputation.
3° - Edwin, Viconia, Koragan and Sarevok are the only evil joinable NPCs, so a pure evil party will always lack 1 vacancy on the party (except for fan mod NPCs, but we're talking of official content here).
4° - By use the necklace slot, he's kept from use the Circlet of Netheril.
5° - Edwin is unplayable with Minsc or Keldorn on the party, which severely limit a creation of a good based party, resuming the tanks to Jaheira, Valygar, Mazzy or Anomen (he's a tank even being a priest), or make you dirt the party more by putting Korgan (another evil character).

Besides, he's one of the coolest characters in the game. By the Game original concept, he's a balanced character.

@kamuizin, you mean amulet of power, circlet of nethril fuses wit that iounstone and makes it a head slot item ( infact i think the circlet is still a head slot item regardless) the amulet of power is kinda of devasting for a mage not to have if they already have a robe of vecna, but i also agree that he is balanced the way he is, since he is the only mage ever to have 18 int
