When you are on the island with all the wharewolf's you and your party are infected with lycanthropy.
But are you ever cured?
I can't recall that you take an antidote or anything like that.

    When you fight the last werewolves in Ulgoth's Beard, he clearly says that the only way you can cure yourself is if you kill the pack leader. And you do, immediately after that conversation.

    This bugged me, too. From what I've gathered killing Mendas after returning home somehow cures you, but I don't understand how or why that is.

    I think it works like a curse. Think Castlevania II Simon's Quest. The hero (Simon Belmont) is cursed, and he has to kill Dracula before the curse consumes him. Once he is victorious the curse is lifted.

    In this case, you kill the Werewolf packleader and the Lycanthropy curse is lifted from all his pack's victims.

    Yep. Like the Kiefer Sutherland (and other 80's stars) movie, Lost Boys. Kill the leader and the curse lifts from the the victims.
