To Claw, or not to Claw?

Playing solo Ranger/Cleric no reloads and I am confronted with a grim and devastating question.

Claw?

No shorty saves, naturally, but I am sitting on an 18 Con currently, so it's a 2 point loss, and when I go grab the Con tome and the whatever it's called newfangled buckler, it means I'm missing out on regeneration.

But on the other hand, +1 AC, +4 against Missiles, and great save bonuses are very, very tempting when not failing saves is so vital and archers are so annoying.

Any opinions?

You regenerate the massive and unbelievable amount of 1 goddamn friggin' HP every 10 minutes, while havin' 20 con! It's such a game-breaking mechanism, that it it's worth to go full in con....
Your min rest-time while having healing spells is 8hours nonetheless..I really don't get the hype about that stupid reg-stuff!

    decide for yourself....

It is nice to regenerate upon area transition or rest though.

Just take the Claw off whenever you're about to travel or rest. Problem solved.

Really, that's the only times regeneration really comes up: otherwise it's too slow to make a difference.

Well, as a Cleric Remove Curse is doable, and I'm already pulling the Sanctuary rest trick if I needed to switch spells, my main concern is missing out on whatever the multiclass HP amount of 18 vs 16 Con, which is anywhere from 7-14 HP or so.

    What's that?

Need to rest? Cast Sanctuary, then rest. If your rest is interrupted, then they'll merrily go on their way unable to see or interact with you, until eventually you're able to get some shut eye. A rather handy trick when travelling alone I find.

Unless they fixed it in today's update, Buckley's Buckler may be all the on-demand regeneration you need (assuming its +1 CON increase will change your hp/level bonus from Constitution, which it should in your case going from 16/17 to 17/18.). It's a grand ol' cheese plate! (The axe Lonesome Road in IWD had the same issue on release. They fixed that eventually, if memory serves.)

Thanks for the tip, though I rarely solo

It also works with Invisibility, including that supplied to your entire party by a CG familiar.

In a perhaps unrelated moral dilemma, the new update has supplied us with a scroll case, however I have already completed the quest by which it is granted this very evening, and killing the quest giver (hot diggety silence 15' is awesome). Is it against the spirit of a hardcore run to shadowkeep in the scroll case I missed due to version incompatability?

What if they decide to stay put and build a xvart village or gibberling mosh pit? What then?

This is what I'm going to do (or CLUA it in] as my evil party killed him after the book quest... I don't like cheating but think adding it in could be considered legit, as I would receive it if doing the same with a new game.

My vote is for no Claw of Kazgaroth. It's a great item but soooo not worth putting on someone who is getting a Constitution bonus.

    Where is said Scroll Case?

Well, then you can move away and hope they don't follow you, or use the opportunity to pre-buff yourself under the cover of Sanctuary before Holy Smiting them and depopulating accordingly.
