replacing character portraits

Played the original BG games but never finished them. Was always getting lured away to play something new. With all the great portraits out there I am replacing BG:EE characters with art that reflects what I think the character should really look like. The Original art is great but after a while it becomes a little drab. I created an “Override” folder in the “00766” folder and dropped in several new portraits for some of the starting game characters. I found a great female human thief portrait and created a new “Imoen” building the three different size pictures using Paint (210X330, 169X266 and 54X84). Added the “L”, “M” and “S” after each name and placed them in the “Override” folder. Started the game and was pleased when the new Imoen portrait replaced the old one. Did the same for Jaheira and Xzar but ran into a problem with Montaron, the Halfling fighter/thief.

The portrait names can only be a maximum of seven characters with the L, M or S tacked on at the end (becoming the 8th character) to work in the Override folder. But Montaron is already eight characters in length and adding the L, M or S pushes the total number to nine characters and I have tried several variations of the halfling’s name to try to come in under the maximum of eight characters but so far I have failed to get my new Montaron into the game. Any ideas? Appreciate any assistance you can provide.
