Scroll case now available

I thought it warranted its own thread to bring attention to the fact.

Firebead Elvenhair now gives you a scroll case in addition to the regular reward upon finishing his quest in Beregost. Not sure if it's been added elsewhere as well.

    Ah ... that's where I got it. I suddenly noticed in my inventory but didn't know where it came from.

    I've already completed that quest. Will he give me the Scroll Case if I return and talk to him again?
    I'm playing on my iPad, so I'll try that when the patch for iOS is released.

    Time to reroll!

    If Neera can't learn it and it's not something I'd want in excess, I'd just sell scrolls. Guess I can stick with that habit, but good to know for future games.

    Unfortunately for those of us in the middles of runs, there is no way to get the scroll case once one has already done the Firebead quest pre-patch. I SK'd one in for myself, although I hear it's limited to only nine scrolls when done through Shadowkeeper.

    Huh. Odd. I wanted to make sure I wasn't making false claims, so I tested it just now for 100% confirmation and he did indeed give me the scroll case.

    Sad truth that. Unless of course they've added a scroll case elsewhere too. Better than nothing though, which is what we had thus far

    Ahh, that's too bad...
    I don't want to spend a lot of time learning how to use Shadowkeeper and try and export the result to my iPad though.
    Guess I'll have to do without a Scroll Case.

    Unless.... Maybe if I kill him, it'll turn up on his dead body? It's worth a try, I guess... :)
    Don't have any pickpocketing skills, or I'd try that too.

    I'm a bad person and used the console for both the scroll case and the gem bag, but mostly because inventory management annoys me at times when i feel like looting everything that aint glued to the floor/grass/rock :x

    Same here @Glokta, my (greedy) inner treasure hunter horder just can't leave anything behind! Though I if I'm playing LG I let an NPC with less rigorous moral standards lift much of it...

    If anyone's interested the item numbers for the console are...

    Bag of Holding: "Bag31" BG:EE or "Bag04" for older versions (other bags are available)
    Scroll Case: "Bag03"
    Gem Bag: "Bag02"
    Ammo Belt & Potion Bag are "Bag05" & "Bag06" but I can't remember which way around they are, I'm sure someone can tell me...

    I tried just now. Cannot be pickpocketed as it says "Target has no items." and if you kill him (it was in self-defense when he caught Imoen stealing! Honest!) he only has his robe, dagger and the book you gave him.

    I just killed him to check that - he definitely had the scroll case on him when I tried it. Couldn't pickpocket though - no items showing apart from a book.

    It's annoying that the scroll case isn't bottomless, there's only so many scrolls you can put into it (and multiple scrolls of the same type count against this limit) :-(

    I think the scroll case was added after the update... I also noted that before update he just gave me the book (history of dead three) but when I finished the quest again he gave me the scroll case.

    Scroll cases in BG2 could hold 20 scrolls (I think). Anyway, that would make it worth it right there. I HATE all of the inventory Tetris that you are forced to play. I am playing the Classic version with Tutu. but scroll cases alone make it worth the money to get it.

    Took me 20 minutes to figure out I had to have the protagonist talk to him in order to get the quest. My low charismatic half-orc is not usually the best choice for conversations. As the non-obtainable Xzar and Montaron showed =/.
    But now I have my scroll case =).

    Didn't work for me for some reason. Playing on ipad. Tried twice in a new game I started today. Game is up to date. Can't think why it didn't work. I did quest in candle keep. I didn't get the quest off him for the book though as he wouldn't give it to me even though I spoke with charname?

    He has a quest for you in Beregost too; that's the one that gives the scroll case.

    Yeah I'm in Beregost but when I talk to him he doesn't give the quest and if I go and give him the book he doesn't give me the scroll case. Tried talking with my protagonist and NPCs but no improvement.

    Just checked the version. I guess the ipad update still hasn't gone through?

    The Ipad is unfortunately hampered by apple app store having to accept the updates that overhaul sends out. Apple app store is notorious for being slow at this.

    Just make sure your CHARNAME has an the intelligence required to read, otherwise it appears you don't get the quest...much to my half-orc barbarian's chagrin.
