Spoilers: Werewolf Island Idea

So, we all know there are some issues with Werewolf Island. Specifically with that one Super-Regenerating Werewolf jerk and the fact there are only a few weapons that hurt him, and three of them are bastard swords, one of them is a dagger, and one is a longsword you may not have even found yet. That's not exactly representative of every weapon category.

The problem with making a weapon available for every weapon class, is that there'd be too many weapons. It'd take too much challenge away from the fight.

Back in the original game, a character that specialized in, say, long swords also gained specialty in bastard swords and 2h swords. So even if you were outside your character's "Comfort Zone" you still had the chops to use all these different weapons. With the BG2 system everything is segregated.

If you had on the island, the ability to reforge or forge a new weapon of your choice, it'd go a long way to patching over that particular issue. I'd gleefully melt down those two bastard swords vs. shapechangers and make a halberd or 2h sword or battleaxe or something out of it.

It would be nice if there were a staff that worked that every class except monk could use.

Since the non-proficiency penalty for warriors is pretty low anyway, and his AC is only around 2 or so, you can typically just flail around without worrying about proficiency and have a good chance of killing him anyway.

Only problem is for solo runs if someone is using a cleric, since they can't use any of the weapons that hurt him

Yep. Any sized group where everyone has cleric or druid in them (i.e., you could run Charname & Viconia & Branwen & Jaheira, for example) totally bars you from affecting the GWW with anything but spells. Once you bring that down to a small size group, it really eliminates anything but cheddar as an option.

Druids can use the dagger. 1d4 +4 damage (+ any strength bonus) for the win (more likely to be a horrible mauling with blood-curdling screams coming from the druid). :)

You are right. I forgot that dagger was on the druid proficiency list.

I would also add a priest of some kind on the island, as it is I'm short one party member. I got hit really hard and have no way of bringing him back until I finish the island.
